New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the members of the 2007 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Men's and Women's All-Academic Cross Country teams on Monday. Grand Valley State University placed four men and two women on the teams. To qualify for individual all-academic honors, the student-athlete must have completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. The student-athlete must also finish in the top 30 percent of individual participants at their respective regional cross country championships.
Four men made the team from Grand Valley State, headlined by Nate Peck, who cracked the top 10 at the national meet with a seventh-place finish. He was joined on the all-academic team by Chris Hammer, Grant Fall and Robbie Young. Young finished 23rd at the national meet, followed by Hammer at 30th and Fall at 38th.
Two women from Grand Valley State also earned all-academic honors. Both Kelly Gibbons and Susie Rivard qualified for the awards and were announced on Monday. Gibbons finished 42nd at the national meet and Rivard crossed the finish line 167th.
