Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State head volleyball coach Deanne Scanlon has announced the signing of transfer Whitney Tremain. Tremain, who has been a member of the Michigan State volleyball team for the past two years, has enrolled at GVSU and will line up at middle blocker and outside hitter for the Lakers in the fall.
"We are very excited to bring in a great athlete in Whitney," Scanlon said. "She comes from a great high school program where she won a state championship. We're looking forward to her playing middle blocker for Grand Valley State."
Tremain appeared in 14 games for Michigan State in 2007, recording eight kills, two assists, five digs and 11 block assists. She also appeared in 14 games during the 2006 season, including nine Big Ten Conference contests. In 2006, she recorded five blocks against No. 16 Purdue on Nov. 11.
"Whitney has the advantage of gaining quality playing experience in Division I," Scanlon said. "With that experience, she should be able to step right in and contribute immediately."
