Indianapolis, Ind. - Grand Valley State remained in second place at the 2008 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships with a two-day total of 249 points. The Lakers trail first-place Wayne State by 84 points, but have a 55-point lead over Lewis. Day three will beging with Friday morning prelims.
The 200 free relay team of Allison Scholz, Melissa Faletti, Jenna Thayer and Kim Baughman finished second (1:36.77), but met the NCAA automatic time and set a school-record in the process. Jenna Thayer set the school-record and met the NCAA B mark with her morning prelim swim (2:08.43). Thayer then finished second in the finals with a time of 2:10.12. Allison VanKampen was third and met the B standard with a time of 2:10.88, while Danielle Buglio finished eighth in a time 2:15.02. Allison Scholz touched fourth in the 50 free (24.52), but her morning prelim time of 24.31 met the B standard for the NCAA Championships. Kim Baughman finished seventh (24.89). Erin Lynch finished eighth in the 500 free (5:17.71), while Alison Sante was fourth on the 1-meter board with a score of 316.75. Sara Moore finished sixth on the 1-meter with a score of 292.85, while the 400 individual medley relay team of Buglio, VanKampen, Thayer and Scholz finished third with a time of 4:02.05.
