Bay City, Mich. - After winning the 2008 GLIAC Women's Golf Championships, Grand Valley State's women's golf team earned two individual awards, as well as placing sixth student-athletes on the All-GLIAC teams. Kristina Langton was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year after finishing sixth at the championships, while Stinston took the Coach of the Year honors after taking her team to the title.
Langton finished sixth at the GLIAC Championships with a 54-hole total of 233 and recorded seven top-10 finishes in 12 tournaments played during her freshman year. Langton tallied a 78.04 stroke average this season, which included a low round of 71.
Stinson led GVSU to the 2008 GLIAC championship as five Lakers finished amoung the top nine in the individual standings. Grand Valley State captured five tournament titles during the 2007-08 season and three golfers earned the GLIAC women's golf Athlete of the Week award. Stinson has guided GVSU to four GLIAC titles in the last six years and five since 2001. Stinson has now earned the GLIAC women's golf Coach of the Year honor four times in her career.
Caitlin Bennett and Ashley Smith joined Langton on the All-GLIAC First Team. Both Tracey Puckering and Allie Tyler earned Second Team All-GLIAC plaudits, and Caitlin Duval was named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC.
