         <description><![CDATA[The Grand Valley State women's golf team has advanced to the NCAA DII Women's East Regional it was announced by the NCAA. Grand Valley State and the Meadows Golf Course will serve as hosts for the East Regional May 5-7. The top two teams of the six-team 54-hole tournament will advance to the NCAA DII National Championship finals May 13-16 at Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. Grand Valley State will begin play Monday (May 5) at 8:10 a.m. GVSU has advanced to the finals four times in the last five years, with a school-best second-place finish in 2005.]]></description>

The title was the Lakers' fifth since 2001 (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008). The Lakers were 20 shots ahead of second place Ferris State (927) and 50 shots in front of Ashland (957).
