         <description><![CDATA[The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the members of the 2007 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Men's and Women's All-Academic Cross Country teams on Monday. Grand Valley State University placed four men and two women on the teams. To qualify for individual all-academic honors, the student-athlete must have completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. The student-athlete must also finish in the top 30 percent of individual participants at their respective regional cross country championships.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the Fall 2007 winners of the inaugural GLIAC Commissioner's Awards for Academic and Athletics Excellence. Grand Valley State was represented in the initial winners by Chris Hammer (men's cross country) and Katy Tafler (women's soccer). The awards, sponsored by Meijer, Inc., will be presented after the fall, winter and spring athletic seasons to six male and six female student-athletes that excel in both the classroom and on the fields of play.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Grand Valley State won its sixth straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon in Erie, Pa. with a team score of 19, while GVSU senior Nate Peck won his third straight GLIAC individual crown. The Lakers easily outdistanced Wayne State by 62 points in the team race, while Peck won the individual race by 20 seconds and bettered his 2006 winning time by nearly one minute. GVSU will now prepare for the 2007 NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional Championship in two weeks.]]></description>
