Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State seniors Anthony Adams, Brandon Barnes and Brandon Carr each appeared in the 2008 Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas, playing for the East All-Stars. The East defeated the West, 42-13, in front of a crowd of 7,800 at Javelina Stadium.

Offensive lineman Brandon Barnes, who one night earlier was named the winner of the Gene Upshaw Award as Division II's outstanding lineman, was the named the Jim Langer Award winner as the game's most outstanding offensive lineman. Barnes helped the East squad roll up 390 yards of total offense, including 251 via the ground.

Linebacker Anthony Adams recorded three solo tackles and caught a 3-yard TD pass from Hillsdale College's Mark Nicolet, while also seeing action as a fullback. Cornerback Brandon Carr led the defensive backs on the East squad in five total tackles (3 solo, 2 assists).

Barnes was also selected to play in the 2008 East-West Shrine game set for Saturday, Jan. 19 in Houston, Texas at 7 p.m. (ET). The game can be seen live on ESPN2.
