Laker Baseball Alumni:
The Lakers had another great season in 2007 (45-9) and reaching the NCAA Regional Final for the second consecutive season. We have been successful because of the support of our alumni. We want to continue to involve our alumni in not only supporting the program, but we also want you to be an active participant in the program. In that regard, there are two items of information that I would like to share with you.
The first item is to say "Thank You" to everyone that assisted in our scoreboard project. I would especially like to thank Scott and Randy Van Dyken for their continuous support of the Laker baseball program.
There is more good news on the facility front for the baseball program. Due to the construction of the new Indoor Movement Science Building the Laker Softball Field has been moved from behind baseball's right field fence to behind the left/center fence. The baseball program has inherited the softball press box that has been moved behind the Lakers dugout. The plan is to renovate the press box into a clubhouse. The facility will include an area for the players and an area our alumni can gather at games during the season.
The renovation project, we would very much like to be an alumni project. For a $150 donation per year for two years (100% tax-deducible), we would place your name, jersey number and years of participation on one of the new lockers. The club house project is another step for the Laker baseball program. I urge you to be involved with the program.
The Lakers are preparing for another run at a NCAA Division II National Championship in 2008.
Thanks for your continued support and interest in the program. If you have questions about this letter or the program, please contact me at any time at my office (616) 331-3264.
Sincerely,
Doug Lipinski
