Bay City, Mich. - Junior left-handed pitcher Andre Benjamin was named the inaugural GLIAC Pitcher of the Week following his good start to the season. Benjamin has appeared in five games this season, started in three and logged an earned-run average of 2.35. He has struck out a team-high 19 batters through 23 innings while allowing just six walks over that period of time. The Lakers are ranked No. 3 in Division II and have compiled a record of 13-1.

Benjamin has thrown one complete game and combined for a shutout already this season. He has a perfect 3-0 record and allowed just six earned runs. Benjamin has given up just two extra-base hits, both doubles, while holding opponents to an average of .239 in 88 at-bats.
