Lakers Claim 2008 GLIAC Championship With 13-6 Win Over Findlay

A seven-run seventh inning broke open a close game and helped Grand Valley State claim the 2008 GLIAC Championship with a 13-6 win over Findlay in the GLIAC Tournament title game Saturday afternoon at Dow Diamond in Midland, Mich. GVSU (34-11) will now receive the GLIAC's automatic invitation to the NCAA DII Tournament. (more)

#24 GVSU Drops Close Decision to #25 Drury in NCAAs

Grand Valley State University could not repeat its victory over Drury from earlier in the season, falling 5-2 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The #24 Lakers fell down 2-1 in doubles before battling back and making the match close right down to the wire. GVSU closes the season with a 26-6 record and a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. (more)

#42 Lakers End Season with 5-0 Loss to #4 Drury

Grand Valley State University saw its season come to an end after a 5-0 loss to #4 Drury on Saturday, May 10. The Lakers, ranked 42nd in Division II coming into the match, end the season with a record of 20-6 and advanced all the way to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling. (more)

Three Lakers Earn First-Team All-GLIAC Plaudits

Eight Grand Valley State baseball earned All-GLIAC honors it was announced Thursday by the GLIAC office in Bay City. Voting was done among the league coaches. Senior RF Derek Hinke (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), junior LHP Andre Benjamin (Grand Ledge, Mich.) and junior DH Casey Robrahn (Jenison, Mich.) headlined the GVSU honorees by earning First-Team All-GLIAC plaudits.
